SEM and XRD

At Petroclays Materials, we have the expertise to carry out Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analyses of most materials.  These two techniques can greatly add to the investigation of problems arising with construction materials.  They could be carried out as standalone analyses, together, or in conjunction with the petrographic examinations when required to greatly improve the information gathered about materials.  SEM can be used at magnifications hundreds of times higher than that possible with petrographic microscopes, and therefore help identify and quantify submicroscopic minerals, compounds and features.
